Table
The surface of the dining-table can be given a high gloss by the use of french polish. Cutlery of stainless steel is set alongside the china plates, and a glass is being filled. A salt cellar is ready for use.

Chair
The dining chairs are on castors of ABS or phenolic resin. They are upholstered in an acrylic fibre in an attractive pattern making use of dyestuffs. Comfort is provided by polyurethane foam, which incorporates a fire retardant for safety.

Walls
The plastered walls are covered with wallpaper which has a PVC (vinyl) coating for durability. Coloured patterns in the wallpaper are made by pigments. The wallpaper is a cellulose-based adhesive, and contains a fungicide to discourage mould formation.

Wood Laminate Floor
Resins of urea-formaldehyde are used as adhesives to bind the board together into laminate. The hard, decorated surface is of a scratch-resistant melamine type of polymer. The floor itself is varnished and kept shiny by the use of polishes containing wax.

Window
Glass in the window-pane is held in a strong, easy-to-clean frame of unplasticised PVC, its white colour coming from a pigment of titanium oxide. The frame is set into the wall using a silicone sealant.
